I have a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and the air conditioner motor stop blowing. The compressor seems to be getting cold. I have checked the fuses and relays, still did not help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jackson
I have the same issue. Started Sept 2008 - seems like a MFG issue. Anyone else want to add to this? ... thanks ... Angel
The motor control unit on these cars (GrandMarq/CrnVic from FoMoCo) is sub par quality and require replacing too often. The MCU is a small circuit board type plug in that is on the firewall near the AC hoses as they enter the passenger compartment. Easy to med difficulty in replacing. I have a 2002 GM LSE that I had to replace the MCU. Dealer only part - $30 - $60.
low on freon compressor kicking in and out
blower relay located on the engine compartment by the firewall
if the compressor is Running you are low on freon, if its not then you have a electrical problem
low on refrigerant or the compressor isn't running..
Compressor not running?Heater control in heat position?
compressor not working or loss of refergerant are possibilities, more common problems are temp adjustment
There are three main possible causes to explain why a car air conditioner is blowing hot air. These causes are a worn out compressor, refrigerant leak, and an electrical problem.
Assuming the heater works fine, you have a short, probably in the AC compressor clutch.
More than likely. Ensure the outdoor unit is running and that the compressor is running. Also check your filter.
so its not blowing at all anymore, as in no air at all? if tahts the case then how do you know its still cold. if it isn't blowing as well you may just need to change out your filter, just like in a house all cars(most)have a air conditioner filter. if its not blowing anymore at all it sounds like your compressor or your whole dam motor went out, take it to shop.
Is it a central unit? check and see if the fan and compressor are running in the outdoor unit. The system may be low on freon or the compressor may not be running. It is best to call a qualified HVAC technician.
It needs to be re gassed
