Freon for your cars air conditioner
you use freon to cool your car and make the air conditioner work
Periodically check your freon levels. For most of us, that is once a year unless the air conditioner is not consistently blowing cool air. Freon is no longer available to uncertified people, and newer cars use another type of coolant.
depemds on the car as how much freon it will hold. some cars have a tag saying how much freon the car is filled with. Too much freon is just as bad as not enough freon.
Wallmart has a kit for that and all cars to accept the new freon. couple a bucks
Yes. there is a low and high pressure cutoff switch for the newer cars 1995+
Most cars since the early 90's have yellow stickers under the hood, usually on the radiator support, that state in pound the amount of freon to use. www.nationalautoinc.com
so its not blowing at all anymore, as in no air at all? if tahts the case then how do you know its still cold. if it isn't blowing as well you may just need to change out your filter, just like in a house all cars(most)have a air conditioner filter. if its not blowing anymore at all it sounds like your compressor or your whole dam motor went out, take it to shop.
Here is the best answer I have. I have a owned cars that held correct charge 40 years, and others that needed total replacement every three years...
R134a is the only freon for cars after 1994. Earlier cars can be retrofitted to R134a.
There is a misconception that all refrigerants are freon. The EPA has band use of freon R12 in the USA. It is no longer produced stateside. The only refrigerant that is acceptable for automotive use is R134A. If you are to attempt to service your air conditioner you will need to know the exact amount needed. It is very critical on cars.
