There is a bent or dropped valve that is hampering it, The Rio 1.5 is a zero tolerance engine if the belt breaks than its pooched
timing belt has absolutely nothing to do with the heater, there is an idle-up solenoid that keeps the idle from decreasing when the fan is turned on(whether it is the heater or AC), check this solenoid
Bad timing belt, get replaced soon.
Out side of the timing chain and gears being replaced there are no adjustments. The vehicle computer controls the timing. On other vehicles the distributor can be turned in either direction to advance or retard the timing. This is not the case for the 4.3 v6.
its most likely the timing belt its most likely the timing belt
I had the same problem. I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the engine quit. It turned out to be the timing belt had broken in mine, timing belts should be replaced every xx,xxx miles or 5 years whichever is sooner, since this is called a zero clearance engine (no indents in the pistons for valves) it also bent 6 valves.
don't do it yourself! almost all Honda engines are interference engines meaning the valves can and will come into contact with the pistons and bend if the timing is off. then it becomes major engine repair! take that one to a professional and ask to have the water pump replaced (it is turned by the timing belt) while they are there or you will be paying the same labor further down the road to have the timing belt removed and replaced again.
If the distributor has not been moved the timing will be as it was before.
Just a thought. If the rotor broke, could it have caught in the cap and turned your distributor and put the engine out of timing? Check the condition of the cap and the contacts inside it,\.
Timming is off. I replaced the water pump on my 95 pathfinder and the fact that the timing belt has to be removed, there is a good chance that one of the cams turned. When the timing marks are lined up, it does not take much for one of the cams to get off its mark. Even a slight bump will do it, and it doesn't help that Nissan does not make the timing marks that visible to see. I used white paint and a small detail brush to mark the timing marks.
You should have your rotors checked and possibly turned or replaced as necessary You should have your rotors checked and possibly turned or replaced as necessary
There could be a belt broken in one of the tires. The rotors may also need turned or even replaced.
Fixed it - Turned out to be a bad MAF sensor.
