The fuel tank has to come out before you can install the new fuel pump component which is a unit complete with the 02 sensor/sending unit and fuel check valve (which maintains fuel pressure).
This is all put together like this for a reason. It makes you spend more money in labor and parts. Period.
About $900-$10000.00 when all is said and done. Really sucks.
