I had this problem with my 2001 Tracker, 2.0 L DOHC engine. The problem was caused by the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. It wasn't sending the right signal when it got hot.
Info on the web said a guy doused it with water after it got hot enough to affect the engine and it started right up. Replacement was about $180 for the part. Easy install.
Problem solved.
The van runs well for about 6miles about 15mins. Once warmed up it splutters and stalls. I will wait for about 3 mins before the engine will re-start. The engine will run for a few more miles and will splutter and stall again.
Engines do not tolerate overheating. Often a head will warp slightly when the engine overheats and the head and/or engine block can even crack. Run a compression test on the engine. If you have a couple cylinders with low compression, the overheating has caused significant damage.
When I start my rodeo Isuzu it stalls but if I keep my foot on the gas pressing on it it will idel but soon as i let off the gan it dies I drive a 1999 rodeo Isuzu V6
A faulty fuel pump will make a 1996 Chevy Tahoe hard to start after it sets for a few hours. The pump can allow fuel to leak back into the gas tank and starve the engine for fuel.
Don't drive in deep water. It means you got the electronics wet. Once they dry out it will start.
Check for vacuum leaks.
There are mamy reasons this could happen. No fuel, flat battery, engine is siezed, blocked filters are just a few
my suburban wont start
i have a 2000 dodge work van 318 engine when i start in the morning it stalls several times until it warms up then ok
first is the air on you may need to thoroughly clean the air mixture assembly where the breather tube connects the engine
have a 89 Chevy astro van starts good till warms up the start to chock and then stalls
My 2003 Chevy Tracker would not restart when it was hot and finally would stall & not restart until it sat and cooled off for 10 minutes. It would crank but not start. We replaced the camshaft it solved the problem. It was located at the back of the engine, at the top and is held by just one screw.
There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.
its the RAR valve.
Sounds like vapor lock. The fuel in the line to the carburetor is vaporizing before it enters the engine.
