Hi,
Most of the time, the problem with the fuel gauge not working can be traced back to the fuel level sensor, which is in the gas tank. What happens is the little metal "fingers" on the sensor break - over time - and the gauge starts to either stick in one position or jump around all over the place.
The ultimate fix is usually to replace that sensor. In order to do that, the fuel tank must be drained and removed.

I had this same problem with my 2003 Venture. The Cheverolet dealership told me that the cruise contol is directly linked to the brake lights. The simplest and cheapest place to start would be to check your brake lights...if they are not working, you will not have cruise control.
