2003 Chevy silverado check engine light comes on for a couple of days and goes off. Engine idle sems low and will die sometimes when coming to a stop. Also battery v. will drop low when idle does.?

I have the same problem with my 03. I havent figured out the check engine light but take it to a dealer and they will fix the idle problem. they know about it and if you take it to them they'll fix it for free. it has something to do with the computer needing to be cleaned out.

When disconnecting the negative at the battery, the negative terminal usually has a black wire and the positive has a red.

change the fuel pressure regulator ,i had the same problem on my silverado 2000. that fixed the misfire.

You need to check the ground wires- battery to engine ground-Body to engine grounds. Check wires on starter make sure there tight. Check cables coming from the battery make sure they are clean and tight. NEED TO DO A LOAD TEST ON BATTERY BUT FIRST MAKE SURE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED If all this is okay then replace the starter.
