Subaru recommends this be changed every 30,000 miles. It is a very easy project. The filter is located beside the master brake cylinder and is held in place by a clamp. Remove the two lines noting which goes where as the new filter will be a unidirectional type. Release the clamp and pull the filter out. The filter will be full of fuel so be careful how and where you dispose of it. Place the new filter in the clamp and tighten it down. Replace the hoses on the correct fittings and tighten the clamps on each. Turn the key on so the fuel pump will come on and fill and pressurize the system. Check for leaks before starting the car.
Remove the plastic shield marked: "oil filter and oil drain" on the splash guard under the motor.Easy to reach easy to change.
