from what i know the v6 models had no limiter only the v8 models i take my 2002 to 125 without a problem no limit to it i'e had the v8's stall out at 100 though
bad tensioner, replace the belt tensioner/pulley. I had the same problem.
i have the same problem, i change, new ecu, new throttle body, rev limiter 7000 rpm my car is ok! rev limiter 7900rpm pops the code17953/P1545/005445doesnt go more than 2500rpm, ihave to shut the engine of and started again !! some says that is the chiptuning i did, some others electrikal problem!!
factory rev limiter, can be bypassed with aftermarket ignition
if your car is automatic there should be no speed limiter, but if it is 5 speed manual, put an ECU out of an automatic 1996 240sx and the problem will be solved. im almost positive the ecu is OBD1 in the 1996, but make sure youre putting in the same OBD ecu.
i hev spark electric problem an Mercedes 190 e 2.6 1989
GM tensioners are spring loaded to provide the correct tension on the serpentine belt. If the belt is loose, either the tensioner is bad or you're using the wrong belt.
The tensioner is usually the problem and/or not using a quality belt.
i have the same problem on my sons. the quad size is big enough but rev limiter kicks in to soon. called dealer they said it cant be adjusted or bypassed, but i know there has to be a way. good way to sell new quads !!!! any help would be appreiceted. thanks.
The pulley itself can be removed with just one bolt in the center. It is metric.. maybe 10mm? Not sure but it's a simple procedure. I removed mine with the tensioner out but if you can get to it installed, it should be no problem.
I would say it can only be one of two things. Either the belt is not the correct size for your vehicle or the tensioner is not installed correctly (or no longer functioning properly). -we had a 97 with a cracked tensioner and that's what it did so pop the tensioner off and vuisually inspect it. that's probably your problem. we have replaced ours twice. good luck
