However, that disclaimer dispensed with, the most likely cause is that the engine idle speed [Rpm] is too low.
The "Idiot light" [warning light] is designed to come on when the output of the alternator is BELOW that which is needed to properly charge the battery.
IF low Rpm is the cause, the "fix" is simply to properly adjust the idle Rpm.

i think what it is, you need to charge your battery but let it charge for about five minutes and if that doesn't work then you need a different battery

If everything worked ok before you changed the battery cables you may have left off the accessory feed wire. The accessory feed wire is a red 10 gauge wire that feeds everything but the starter motor.
