It is time for an engine overhaul. The pistion rings/ oil rings and compression rings are either broken are worn out. That is called blow-by. Your engine is done.
What Year Motor?
What Year Motor?
190 degrees if carb, 195 if fuel injected
squirt a little gas in the carb.
That would most likely come with a Rochester Quadrajet.
fuel injected or carb? Fuel Injected usually around 6* with the est wire disconnected. Carb, factory is 8*, but I have found it varies from motor to motor and anything from 0-22 is acceptable. However I would suggest around 12 for a stock 350.
Line pressure is too high if it's squirting gas. Check your pump-it sounds like you are blowing carb needle off it's seat.
Those kinds of remanufactured engines usually have about the same power as the original. A typical 350 with a 4 barrel carb is around 200.
I have a 77 Impala with the 5.7 4BL carb and stock it puts out about 260 hp
Probably not.
If its a 4-barrel carb, its 310hp. If it has the W-31 option it was 325hp. Both were considered "high compression" engines. There was a 2 barrel carb 350 cu in that had only 250 hp. Hope this helps.
Probably. Backfiring is a symptom of a lean condition. Wouldn't want to leave it like that.
