you remove the number one spark plug and manually roll the engine ove till the piston comes all the way up the cylinder,you can check this by inserting a long 1/4" extension in the plug hole,this ill also give you your fireing order starting point to as the rotor button will point directly at the number one cylinder when the piston is at top dead center
The headers for a 350 and 305 are the same.
a 305 Chevy makes about 160 horsepower, though if its set up right it can make up to 350 without major modification

yes it will cause they are both Chevy small bock.. i just dropped a 350 in my 84 camaro and used the same transmission nothings different.

Unplug the vac advance on the dist.Also there may be a plug on the drivers side of the intake manifold containing 2 wires which when unpluged turns on the ck eng light.Sometimes the balancer outter ring slips and you have to replace the balancer to set the timing.
attach the green wire to the negative terminal of the coil. if its an hei, it will have a terminal that says tach on it.
