Most of these fans should come on every time you turn on the A/C switch; assuming the weather is above freezing. Make sure the A/C switch is on, when you want to test the fans.
If an engine light is still on after replacing a fan's radiator sensor in a RFW engine the coolant sensor should also be checked. If the coolant sensor is bad it will send an error code to the car's computer.
The knock sensor, in your 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, can be found on the front of the engine. The knock sensor is near the top of the engine.
You need to check coolant temperature sensor and the water pump.
behind the engine
"low coolant? sensor location, NOT "engine temperature" sensor location is of passenger side of radiator tank. remove headlamp assembly for a direct visual on sensor. it is a black plastic square on side of radiator lower than the upper radiator hose inlet. has a two wire connector
The engine computer uses the coolant temperature sensor to decide when to activate the radiator fans. That sensor is the two wire one near where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. The engine computer uses the coolant temperature sensor to decide when to activate the radiator fans. The engine temperature sensor is located next to where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. There is not a camshaft sensor on the '93 3.1 Lumina, just a crank sensor on the back side of the engine between the block and the barrel of the transaxle. Easy enough to get to from underneath the car.
It is the two wire sensor near to were the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. It is the two wire sensor near to were the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine.
It's a sensor that tells the computer if there is a rod knock in your engine.
on my 1992 lumina z34 its about 5 inches from top on passenger side of car directly below radiator fill spout
It also has a sensor near the engine mount that needs replaced if it already ran hot. Its on the engine where the hose from radiator to goes to engine. One sensor is for coolant level and one for the temp sensor. Near the pulleys.
