The air conditioner is filled (or drained) with R134a refrigerant via an inlet on the top of the motor (passenger side). If one were to follow a silver metal tube from the condenser along toward the front of the car, one would find a capped inlet with a nozzle similar to a bike tire, yet threaded on the inside rather than out. The black cap inlet is the low pressure side, and the red cap inlet, located nearer to the radiator is the high pressure side of the system. Filling is done on the low pressure side, with the engine running and all computer codes cleared.
It is, of course, illegal to "drain" an air conditioner without a capture device in the United States and Canada.
