Go and drive it a few miles and then come back home, shut it off and open the hood.
Now wait about 5 min. And then climb up on the bumber and put your hand down in
the front of the Fan blade, Then slide your hand from the top of the radiator down towards the bottom as far as you can reach and it should be the same tempture from top to bottom give are take a few degrees. If cold at the bottom and hot at the top more the 1/2 way down the radiator then replace raditor.(stoped up)
But in your case I think you have a bad thermostat.

No they do not, After engine is running there is no need for glow plugs because there is enough heat in the cylinders to warm the fuel. The glow plugs are designed to heat up the cold diesel fuel on start up only. Actually glow plugs will cycle briefly after engine start up to keep the cold fuel from bringing down cyl temp until the engine warms up. A power stroke will keep glow plugs on for up to 180 sec. A chev will run considerably less I believe.

Sounds like a bad thermostat. Check that first. It could be a blown head gasket or cracked head too. How hot did it get ??? Very low coolant level (check in the radiator when engine is cold) will give both of those problems at the same time.

There is no heater matrix for the back air vents, only and evaporator for the A/C. My suburban always blowed cold until I added an extra rear heater matrix.

If a hose collapses, replace your heater hoses. Otherwise take it to a mechanic.
