Throw out bearing is bad.
It depends on where the grinding noise is coming from. Most of the time the grinding is coming from the brakes and the brake pads need to be replaced. If they've been grinding for a while, the rotors will need to be resurfaced or replaced. Other possibilities for grinding are worn axle bearings, or a problem with the clutch. If the clutch goes out, there will be a grinding noise when you try to shift gears.
This could be your clutch pressure plate is worne..
The clutch bearing or " throw out" bearing is going bad and will need to be replaced, take this opportunity to change the clutch as well.
Your clutch is worn out, your pressure plate is shot,or there is a broken spring inside your clutch, you have to drop your tranny to check this out, been there ,done that! good luck,,toro2.
The grinding noise can be an indication of a bad gear in the transmission. The grinding noise can also indicate a problem with the clutch.
It might be the clutch but get it checked out
How do you know if your fly wheel is bad
if it is hard to shift, when you shift your hear grinding, if you need to push really hard to get the clutch down, or if your in nutraul and your car dies when your foot is off the clutch
If it is a manual trans then it sounds like your not pushing the clutch in all the way. When you dont push the clutch in all the way then you will hear your gears grinding when you go to shift
Usually the clutch bolts do not come out , if you are hearing a grinding noise coming from the cover the cover is warped and needs to be replaced .
a/c clutch. same thing happened to my 96 vulcan taurus, replaced the a/c clutch and it fixed the problem
It can be the clutch, it doesn't work properly. And check the transmission fluid level. Sad news is that if it's the clutch you will have to replace it as soon as possible.
