Dome light, defective door switch or wire disconnected. Gear Selector, bulb needs replacing. Airbag light on, problem with the SRS. Not a DIY repair, serious injury can occur. Take it to a pro.

If there is no key hole then it will stay active all the time. If there is a key then turn the key to the on position. It usually lights up when the unit has been turned off. If it does have one it will be in plain site near the airbag area. My 2002 liberty doesnt have a selector. Hope this helps.
