It is possible that the outside temperature sensor is defective. As a result the heat only works at certain electronic temperature control settings.
The outside temperature gauge says ICE this morning (AM) because it may be icy outside. Also, the temperature outside may be below 32 degrees, which is freezing temperatures.
where is the temperature gauge sensor located in a 2005 f-150 fx4
There are several things that can cause your 2001 Ford F2 50 outside temperature gauge to quit working. The most common cause is a malfunctioning outside temperature sensor.
get a new temperature sensor.
If you refer to the outside temp sensor, it is located inside on right side rear view mirror
Temperature Gauge Sending Unit The sending unit is located in the front section of the manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
first let me ask you to clarify. do you mean it reads low temp or that it reads lower then what the banks and the temp outside is???? I have the same problem on my 1998 Regal. The temperature gauge reads ~ 20 degrees lower than actual. Occasionally it will read correct, but not for long. I can't find any information as to where the sensor is, or the supporting cabling that will help me trobleshoot the problem. JJD Not compared to Banks, but actual temperature readings outside. For example, if it is 95 degrees outside, the regal says ~72 degrees. It used to read withing about 1 degree to the actual outside temp, but now it is at least 20 degrees lower. I have a 99 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, and my temperature gage was doing the same thing the dealer replaced the sensor, located on the left front of the radiator. They charged me $80.00, if I had known where and what to look for I could have done it for a lot less.
The temperature gauge is broken or not calibrated. You need to have your heater or thermostat regulated and/or looked at.
The fuel sensor is most likely sticking. It is located inside of the fuel tank, and the tank will have to be removed to gain access.
The out side temp sensor is located in front and below the air conditioner condencer. It will have a two wire connector.
Sounds like a bad gauge sensor or a bad tank sensor (or both).
