99 olds alero key won't turn in ignition stuck in park what could be the problem?

Try turning the sterring wheel just a little while trying to turn the key. Also you might try pulling up on the gear shift lever if this is a column shifter while trying to turn the key. Hope this works.

Well, it sounds like the chip that is in your key may have broke or got stuck on a part of the ignition. I had that problem. This happened not long after I had had to have the ignition replaced?!?

I had this problem and it turned out to be a dirty park switch located in the console shift (automatic), that releases the ignition in park. The mech cleaned it and the problem never returned.

I had the same problem my car said it was in the off position but the key looked like it was a little too the right, but if you look down at where your gas pedal is, there should be a cable to the right jiggle that up and down and your key should turn all the way to the left and you can take it out.
