If the AC pulley is locking up when the ac compressor clutch engages, it's not a clutch problem, it's a compressor problem. But yes, the AC clutch can usually be replaced separately. The problem is, if the clutch is worn out the compressor is probably worn out as well. It usually isn't that much more to replace the whole thing.
REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR If the AC compressor is seized, you don't have many options. Yes, you
when the defroster is turned on, it activates the a/c compressor. the clutch may be locking up on the compressor.
Most likely you have a damaged - locking a/c compressor internally.............
Its always best to cycle the a/c compressor on and off several times in any weather condition so that the small amount of oil will travel around the system but there is a small chance of locking the compressor up as well if its not done............
Sounds like the a/c compressor is locking up and burning both the a/c clutch and the belt..........
Any of the following.......... 1. The compressor is locking up. 2. You have a bad a/c clutch. 3. You have a bad drive belt. 4. You have a bad tensioner. 5. The a/c system is overcharged.
YES. The A/C will cycle on and off when the heater is on defrost. That stops the A/C compressor from locking up during the winter months.
The AC compressor could be locking up. Don't run the AC until you have it checked out. When the AC compressor starts to go bad it can send metal junk into the AC system causing trouble and $.
yes it does and it is located by the battery and if it is blown you may need an ac compressor they have a problem with locking up
it will probably also die if you turn on the A/C, because the connection here is probably the A/C compressor. See if that is the case, and you may your answer. It may be that the A/C compressor is locking up or dragging, or your idle is too low to handle the extra load of the compressor.
Sounds like your compressor is locking up.
Loosen the tensioner locking bolt and and back off the screw. Consult a manual if you are not familiar with how to do this.
Possible that the ac compressor is locking up.
sounds like your A.C. compressor clutch is locking up
That's very simple. there two possible conditions, first and foremost, the belt is possibly old and strechted. secondly the tensioner might need to be replaced. starting with the belt try replacing it first, this should solve the problem (as it did with mine) if not, then there's not enough tension on the belt..cbs or your ac compressor is locking up, either short belt the system or replace the compressor
Most likely you have a damaged - locking a/c compressor internally.............
I have just gone through 4, yes four compressors, condensor and belts on a 2000 grand vitara. I was told finally today the reason the compressors contine to squeal with each one is that the system has rust fragments in it from ( running it dry ?)and locking up the compressor ie.... the squeal, the belts have also been replaced and to No surprise the whole thing needs to be replaced at a tune of $2, 500 The company that we took it to spoke with the manufactor of the compressors and stated the only way to relieve the SQUEAL was to replace the whole airconditioning system due to the fragments entering the whole system. Hope this helps
When you engage the defroster you also engage the a/c compressor. If the engine needs a tuneup you could easily run into stalling problems. Check for vacuum leaks. New answer: YES he is right on all the above. Here's a good test to run to make sure that the a/c compressor is NOT LOCKING UP when you turn the defroster on, is to JUST remove the A/C belt and start it back up and turn the defrosters on. If it don't die then you need to replace the A/C compressor are just leave the belt off if you can. Sometimes you can't.
i take it that its locked up more than once . it could be that metal matter isn't getting flushed out of system when installing new compressor or its always running high pressures from not enough air flow thru condensor . if compressors lock up in less than a year of each other, it is metal in system
check the a/c compressor. it may be locking up on the vehicle. the clutch on the pulley may be sticking. Mybe it is your Coil that got wet or your plugs. Get a new coil.
that could mean there is a bent pulley causing the belt to ride crooked and break. It could also mean one of the pulleys is locking up(not turning), which will also cause the belt to break. Overtightening the belt will also cause the belt to break. I'm betting one of the pulleys is locking up. I would check the a/c compressor pulley first, then the others.
Most likely causes would be a pulley that is locking up, a misaligned pulley, or something getting on the belt causing it to fall off. Check the ac compressor and water pump.
if removed and replaced properly the interior locking button should always work.
Keep the a/c OFF!!!! with it off does the pulley on the a/c compressor seem to be locking up or wobbling when the engine is running with the A?C OFF????? if the belt looks smoooth then you may be ok until you replace the a/c clutch?
If the rear wheel brakes are locking up on a vehicle they should be thoroughly checked. The master cylinder may need to be replaced on the car.
