Normal, unless it's red around it. Or if you have a red streak going up in a line near area and if that happens GO TO HOSPITAL!!!
Make sure your dog is up to date on his Rabies & DHLP/Parvo vaccinations. Take your dog in to be checked out by your Veterinarian and see what he or she has to say about the bite wound plus the Vet can treat the wound at that time. Bite wounds have a tendency to become very septic and infected so best to have a Veterinarian check out the bite wound.
puncture
If a dog bit you and didn't puncture the skin, no, no rabies. If you mean there is no dog blood in the wound but still your blood, yes, chance of rabies.
Rapid mortality. Best to make the dog comfortable.
Take her to the vet!
swelling of the wound, pus in the wound ,pain, redness
I am an EMT. My training says....Bite. You could go as far as to say puncture, rip, tear, avulsion. But that depends on what kind of damage was done.
A cat bite on a dog is treated by a vet according to the severity of the bite. The dog could only require the wound to be cleaned. The vet may prescribe antibiotics as a precaution to prevent any related illnesses that may occur. Normally a dog would not require stitches from a cat bite. The vet would determine the medical needs of the dog.
Watch for swelling, discharge (puss) or any off smells. You dog will need the wound cleaned and possibly antibiotics so take it to the vet.
It depends really, if the dog bite punctured deep into the skin, you're going to want to go to the nearest Emergency Room, but if the bite just slightly punctures, you should probably clean the wound, put a substance like Neosporin on the cut to help prevent infection, and then wrap it up if you can, or just put a bandaid on it if it's a small bite. Ice isn't very useful unless there is swelling, but if there is pain, you can take something like Tylenol, Motrin, Ibuprofen, or Aleve, to relief it.
It could be a lot of things. Is there a wound that is swelling? Did the horse get kicked? This what you would hope for. The question is are they swelling or bloating? If they're bloating that could mean colic- which is bad. If the horse begins to roll, kick and bite at his stomach, you better call a vet fast.
Since it has been three days since the insect bite, it sounds like the symptoms are severe. With the material constantly coming out of the wound, as well as the swelling and bruising the bite should be evaluated by a doctor to prevent serious complications.
