Are you looking for something cheaper, or just something different and less touristy?
There is a HUGE difference between going to Oahu and staying around Waikiki/Honolulu and going to the big island to someplace like Kona. You goto Oahu for partying, you goto Hawaii for the peace & quiet and postcard views.
My favorites aside from Kona are Guam and Majuro atoll in the Marshall Islands, the latter being pretty far out there and very few people getting in the way. Crystal clear water, white sand beaches, and very few people.
