The reason for this is to take advantage of the most heat in the oven. Heat rises to the top.
Unless a recipe provides specific instructions to something different, you should bake using the centre rack in the oven

usually food is cooked in the middle of the oven or the next level down. You want the food to have room for air circulation around it. If the rack in the middle puts the food too close to the top of the oven, move the rack down a level.
Always cook a cake on the middle rack, whether the oven is on fan forced or not, otherwise you'll burn the top.

If you're recipe doesn't specify otherwise, use the center rack--that should provide good heat circulation and keep the pie away from the heating element on the bottom of the oven. You might want to also consider putting the pie on a cooking sheet covered with aluminum foil to catch drips and ensure even cooking of the bottom crust.

Cook at 25 degrees less heat than recipe advises. Also cook on top rack in top 1/3 of oven.

To clean a cooling rack, you can place it in the dishwasher and run a cycle. Another way is to by hand washing with dish liquid, hot water and a scrubbing pad.
Clean and sanitize sink and prepare the dishes to be washed. Place dishes on dish rack to dry. Clean countertops & table. Clean stove top,oven & microwave. Dust cobwebs, blinds and etc. Mop and sweep.
