This may just be State 2 State, but I believe if you bail out, you give up your right to a speedy trial. You may want to check your jurisdiction for that. Life is reserved for murder and everything alse has a statute of Limitations.

Depending on the particulars of the case and the mindset of the prosecuting attorney, you could potentially be charged as well. You should discuss the matter with an attorney, who can meet with the prosecuting attorney to see if they are considering charges against you.

Can you get arrested for harboring a runaway in New Mexico?

It's possible you could be charged with "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" and if there were more to the situation than simply "harboring" them, such charges such as sex offenses might be raised. Such charges are generally left up to the prosecuting attorney's office in such matters.

Can you be charged with assault with a deadly weapon with just the victims word?

Whether or not you are charged with any crime is entirely up to the prosecuting attorney. If the prosecutor believes that the victim is credible enough there is nothing that would stop you from being charged.

What are the various stages of a criminal trial?

Charges are filed: A defendant is charged either by complaint, indictment or information. A complaint is an initial charging document signed by the Magistrate Judge that describes the charges against a defendant. A person can be arrested and charged by complaint before a grand jury has found probable cause to return an indictment, but a person charged by complaint then has the right to be indicted by a grand jury.

Why cops commit fraud?

Cops commit fraud to get people to plead guilty when they are innocent. This actually happened to me. I got arrested for prostitution and the cop who arrested me created a computerized phone conversation of me saying orally hand and mouth after he asked me if I was full service and I said "No". He used the recording to convince the prosecuting attorney I was guilty of asking him to pay me money for oral sex when I only told him he was paying me for a rubdown. The prosecuting attorney refused to listen to my attorney even when he had proof with phone records that the recording was a fraud. I ended up getting threatened by the prosecuting attorney saying I would get charged for harassment of the officer and he would have six of the SWAT team officers present at my arrest testify against me if I went to a jury trial. I ended up taking deferred adjudication with a year probation and community service. The cop committed a crime of fraud and I got the rap. This is why cops commit fraud because they can get away with it. Sad, but true.

Who do you call if a felony was charged to the wrong person?

Law enforcement must have had SOME kind of probable cause to arrest you. If it was enough to sustain an arraignment and an indictment then you must rely on the help and advice of your attorney.
