If you downloaded it from the internet using the browser Firefox (ie. if you downloaded the trial version over the Internet) here's what you need to do:
On the toolbar at the top of Firefox go to Tools > Downloads (or on your keyboard type Ctrl+J). A little pop-up box will show up. Scroll down and find the name of the thing you downloaded (should be called "vegas" something). Once you've found it right-click and select "Open containing folder". Voila, you've found it!
To make it easier next time do this: Tools > Options. In the pop-up select the "Main" tab. Then go down to "Downloads" and where it says "Save files to" choose somewhere obvious like your Desktop. That way everything you download will end up on your Desktop next time! Don't forget to hit "OK" after you make these changes.
If you're using Internet Explorer, or if you bought the software, then ignore eveything I said and wait for someone else to answer :)
