It sounds a bit like the injury might just be a coincidence. What you are describing sounds a lot like the symptoms that you would get with a flare up of Rheumatoid arthritis's. The problem with this disease is that there is no definitive way of diagnosing it other then to have blood tests and ongoing X rays that eventually spot the damage that is being done by the inflammation. In any case what you do have is inflammation around the joints and it would be a wise idea to consult a specialist ( rheumatologist ) about this just in case it is more then a slow healing injury. I suffer from RA and what you describe sounds very familiar to me. get it checked out.

You know, I think it's more common than those of us who are missing knuckles would think! Just a quick youtube search shows other people out there who are missing knuckles (from birth). I only noticed that I'm missing mine when I was 9 or 10! And, another oddity, it usually makes your finger really short. Soo I want to know also who else is missing their knuckles so I've started a Facebook page so we can try and see who else is out there.
