The main thing at this stage is that your out of it. Your mind needs time to clear from all the garbage these types put in it. In time you will be able to process it more. Staying busy right now will help if you are depressed. Take eash stage as it comes. Stay busy with the right stuff, and you will come out fine. You need to take care of yourself by finding a balance (enough rest, good food, Yoga or other calming exercise, and spend time alone and with friends). It is easy at these times to become a whirling dervish and wear yourself out. It is important not to focus on where you've been, but rather on where you are going, so you are doing the right thing. I want to add that part of the healing process is replacing old habits, and the N of course. Getting busy putting new healthy habits in place is a wonderful way to spend your time during the chaos of breaking off the relationship. You still have to figure out why this happened to you and how to avoid it in the future but..... that's a good thing to do with a therapist that knows what they're doing.

When you do the right things, the right things happen. After awhile, you will gain insight as to how crazy things were and then you will not accept that sort of behavior ever again. Be busy, take advantage of the time and energy to explore new things and to develop new priorities and your life will change for the better. Do not become deeply involved with anyone for a year or two so that you can return to yourself.
