Air bag light flashes and stays on after installing new battery in 1999 Lincoln town car. Never had accident. How can the air bag light be disabled without taking to dealership?

A good tip is to connect a charger into the cigar lighter before disconneting the old battery; it stops the monitoring system beig confused by electrical failure and stops the radio code (if applicable) from being droppedbeing systemProblem is you have created 'fault' on the data bus. Now the monitoring system needs to be cleared. Try disconnecting the battery overnight. If that doesn't do it a trip to the dealership might be the only answer.
