Many times when the freedom of speech is exercised, it is controversial. An example of this is flag burning. There has been a very intense debate over this for many years. Usually however, there is no controversy such as when you go to church or what ever your religion may be.

Free speech should only be used if you are going to be polite and not racist. You should not hurt or upset the person you may be talking to. If you have different views then you have the right to share them with the world.

This has been argued by both Democrats and Republicans alike and there is plenty of legislation to solidify either argument. As of right now, as long as the dollar amount is within a certain requirement this is definitely considered a part of exercising an individual's "free speech"
