Approximately less than 30 were downed; the vast majority were destroyed on the ground; the survivors of the those "fled" into Iran.

During the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, 259 Iraqi soldiers were killed and 361 were wounded. Also, and estimated 39 Iraqi aircraft were shot down, and 120 tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed. In addition, 4 Iraqi ships were sunk. Overall, Iraqi losses were light.

On or about 15 January 1991, the order was given and US/coalition aircraft commenced air strikes at Iraqi targets. Iraq had been given an ultimatum, on or about the 15th of January that ultimatum was carried out.
