The legal definition of a motorcycle in most jurisdictions is a two-wheeled motorized vehicle with an engine displacement of 50 ccs and over. To get the most powerful two-wheeled vehicle without requiring a motorcycle license, many mopeds are made at the maximum possible displacement.
No
Can you drive a 50 cc scooter in Texas without a drivers license
i know in Connecticut its only legal up to 49 cc's but i have no idea what it is there. that's usually the standard as long as its under 50 cc's.
Yes.
50
Yes cause it is just like a motorcycle but you don't have to have 48 hours you just get your license and drive In most states,if it's 49cc or 50 cc or less an operators license is NOT required.except in Florida where a bike is considered a vehicle,u can get a DUI on anything with wheels in FL.If it's above 50cc and goes more than 30 mph you needa licanse. That's North Carolina law.chack your state dmv listings for mopeds.
If the scooter or moped is under 50 cc no
50$ to 250$
yes, in al 50 states, just ask the IRS...after you are legal.
NO! for 50 cc you do not need a motorcycle licence in chicago. But you need to have any other driver licence. if you do not have than you need to go to secretary of state and ask about the 4 hrs class for motorcycle safety class. if you go to that class you can drive the 50 cc without any licence. they will give you a paper that is good as a driver licence for mopeds.
Texas DMV has the laws online. For 50cc or lower IF it qualifies as a moped...some do, some don't and the approved list is online too at DMV..then you take a written test and can get a moped license at age 15. Anyone with a reg. drivers license can also ride a moped. If the 50 cc does not qualify as a moped or is larger than 50cc, you need a motorcycle license which is just an M on your regular drivers license. Almost everyone gets this by taking a motorcycle safety course, then taking the written motorcycle test at DMV. An Aprilia 50 cc does not qualify as a moped, but the Honda Metro 50cc does in Texas. The driving rules that apply are the same for both cars and scooters with one exception: Mopeds can use bike lanes. It would not be legal to ride on sidewalks, but then it isn't legal for bicycles to ride on sidewalks either. Texas defines a moped as a motorized vehicle no larger than 50cc capable of speeds no greater than 30 mph. For this reason many 50cc scooters are restricted. The dealer can de-restrict the scooter to make it go a little faster. The Aprilia 50 goes 42 mph. Here's a general rule on speeds: 50 ccs go 25-40 mph (although the Aprilia RS50 goes 50 mph), 125 cc scooters go 55-60 mph, 150cc about 65mph. 250cc scooters go 70-80 mph. The old vintage mopeds that are chain driven only go about 25 mph. All motorized vehicles require license plates. Mopeds have a little sticker added to the plate. You must carry liability insurance as a minimum too and the cost of the title and registration is the same for all scooters, mopeds, motorcycles.
