Are chihuahuas good for asthmatic children?

it would depend on what brings on your kids Asthma. i am an asthma suffer but only react to dust mites and feathers. ive always keep at lest one dog and have never had any problems.mabey try introducing your kid to a friends dog and see if it has any affect on his/her health before you bring a dog home

No. They shed. It's also the dander on the skin. The good news is, many children as they get older can out-grow asmthma. If your child really wants a dog then Bichon Frise' is a good dog (you don't have to groom them in that powder puff look ... I own one) and they don't shed. They are a sturdy little dog and grow to be approx 18 - 20 lbs., are good watch dogs and fantastic family pets. Poodles also don't shed and there are other breeds. Chihuahua's are not really a good dog for children at all. Chi's tend not to like being around small children.

We have a cocker spaniel that's 2-years-old and we have an 11 year old and an 8 year old. He gets along well with them. Sometimes he jumps, but he is very fun and never scratches on purpose.
