I found a Agapostemon just across the NH border, so I would assume yes. I'm not sure which species actually occur in Massachusetts though.
Bees with green heads are not all that rare in North and South America. There are green sweat bees, bees with metallic green heads, and even more varieties can be found in the western hemisphere.
No they do not sweat.
The metallic smell in sweat is often attributed to the presence of certain compounds, particularly when sweat interacts with bacteria on the skin. When sweat contains higher levels of metals like iron, zinc, or copper, or is influenced by diet or medications, it can produce a distinct odor. Additionally, certain medical conditions can affect the composition of sweat, leading to unusual smells. Overall, the interaction between sweat, bacteria, and individual body chemistry contributes to this phenomenon.
We have these in our yard. We believe they are either mining bees or sweat bees. Ours have bright green (not metallic green)_ heads, and abdomens that resemble a honey bee or yellow jacket. They live in the ground as specified in the answer, and are not aggressive. Very good pollinators - seen carrying large loads of pollen into burrows. - Larry Hewitt; Centralia, WA
Field crickets, fire ants, ground-dwelling beetles and ground-nesting bees are examples of insects that make dirt castings on garden and lawn surfaces. Ground-nesting bees include metallic green sweat (Agapostemon spp), mining (Andrena spp), polyester (Colletes spp) and sweat (Halictus spp, Lasioglossum spp) bees in North America. The grub stages of such beetles as the invasive Japanese (Popillia japonica) may be implicated.

A mixture of copper salts and skin oils. It is harmless and forms naturally from a reaction between copper in the metal alloy and salts in your sweat. Skin oils in the sweat mix with these copper salts, producing this green gooey stuff.
Probably b/c there's bit of copper in the metal. The copper is reacting with the sweat on your skin, creating a green stain.
