Tarantulas lay eggs - which hatch in 6-8 weeks. While the eggs are developing, the female will actively 'guard' the egg-sac.
Mexican Golden Red Rump Tarantula like other tarantula eats insect or what they called feeders. Feeders might be cockroaches or crickets.
Tarantulas and actually all spiders are not poisonous but venomous. most if not all spiders are venomous although the Mexican Red leg, or red knee (b.Smithi) venom is mild, it is about the same as a bee sting, you may swell a bit and the bite are will become very itchy. Most T's are not known for biting but a few are!
Yes they do have venom. But it is only deadly to small insects such as crickets and locusts. The venom is to be known as painful as a bee sting, but this can differ depending if you are allergic to the chemical structure of the venom
Mexican Red Knee tarantulas are harmless. They only bite as a last resort, and if it did bite, it would be no worse than a bee sting. I've had one as a pet for years, and it has never been aggressive.
"carnivore" refers to animals that eat other animals (read: fish and mammals). Tarantulas are what's know as "insectivores", which (you guessed it!) eat insects.
Breeding Mexican red knee tarantulas involves selecting a healthy male and female, typically during the breeding season in spring. The male will perform a courtship dance to attract the female, and if she is receptive, mating will occur. After mating, the female may lay an egg sac within a few weeks, which should be kept in a warm and humid environment. Once the spiderlings emerge, they can be carefully separated and raised individually.
Male Mexican red knee tarantulas can only live up to 5 -7 years and die shortly after their last moult, while females can live up to 25 years.
all turantula's are poisonous, the likes of the clilli rose, curly hair and mex red knee are just like a bee sting, these are also very calm spiders so the chance of them biteing you is very low, then you have got the babbon spiders that are very aggresive and could make you ill. hope this helps Stacey
