A colt is a baby male horse. "Mormons", members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are people.
Perhaps you meant to ask if members of the Church belong to a cult? A cult is defined as "a particular system of religious worship" - by that definition, every religious person belongs to a cult.
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not live on compounds or in closed societies, and they worship God and Jesus Christ just like other Christians. They do not dress, act, or live much differently than regular society. They are not secretive, but are open to sharing their beliefs and practices with everyone.
You can learn more about the "Mormon" church, it's members, and whether or not it is a cult at the "Related Links" below.
People today use the word cult in a derogatory way. It is often associated with groups that are secretive and communal. This definition does not fit well with the Mormon church but probably would with the primitive Christian church that Jesus organized. The early church was communal and gave all that they had to the church leaders for redistribution. One couple died for not fully complying (see Acts 4:32 through Acts 5:10).
