While there will be some exciting events in Washington DC on inauguration day 2013, it will not be as elaborate as the first inauguration was-- second time inaugurations generally are a bit more low-key. The inauguration itself will take place on Monday January 21, 2013 (the 20th is a Sunday and so the ceremonies were moved to the next day). There will be an entire week of festivities, some of which are free to the public, although there will undoubtedly be big crowds. Some of the events will also be televised.
