Simple answer, yes. The composition of wood ash is influenced by the type of wood that has been burned. Also the conditions of the combustion affect the composition and amount of the residue ash, thus higher temperature will reduce ash yield. Basic charcoal is produced from wood. For a long time wood ash has been used in agricultural soil applications as it recycles nutrients back to the land. Wood ash has some value as a fertilizer, but does not contain nitrogen. Because of the presence of calcium carbonate it acts as a liming agent and will deacidify the soil increasing its pH

Cooking Safely With A Barbecue Grill Smoker?

A barbecue grill smoker can take several hours or days to smoke foods completely. The placement of any smoker that is not on an elevated frame needs to be chosen carefully before cooking begins. If a smoker comes into contact with dead plants in a yard, dry wood on a deck or lawn debris then a fire can easily start as the heat accumulates. It is usually best to place a barbecue grill smoker over heat-resistant bricks that protect the ground and surrounding area.

NOW. In Arizona, apply a high quality grade of ammonium sulfate to your lawn in the first two weeks of March, then water in deeply. Apply the ammonium sulfate according to package directions. If a patch of grass on a lawn catches fire because there's a campfire for smores will the whole lawn burn or can entire yards even catch fire?

If the lawn is healthy and green, it should not be a problem. If there is dry plant material around, then an ember can fly out and start a fire. I would suggest using a barbecue or fire pit to cook your s'mores. Make sure there are no trees hanging overhead and no bushes nearby. Have a water hose handy, so that you can quickly put out any fires that may start accidentally. And make sure that you put your fire out completely, before leaving it unattended. You should be able to put your hand in the ashes and not get burned.
