Bank 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1 (upstream) are usually the same. Sometimes the only difference is the length of the wire harness. Same goes for sensor B1 S2 and B2 S2 (downstream). It really depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles call them air/fuel sensors and they are all the same.
Bank 1 is the same side as cylinder #1. Bank 2 would be the other side.
Bank one is the same side of the engine as cylinder 1.
No both upstream sensors are the same, the down stream one is completely different and just monitors the catylist. Since sensors are dirt cheap brand new- bet bet just get the replacement if you are sure yours is shot.
The #1 oxygen sensors are installed into the exhaust manifold. If a vehicle has #2 oxygen sensors, they are after the catalytic converter. Bank 1 is between the engine and the firewall. It is highly recommended that you replace both oxygen sensors at the same time, since the failure of one sensor is a good indicator that the other is about to fail.
I have a 2004 Silverado 4.3l engine, my questions is are all 4 02 sensors the same are they interchangeable
The same sensors Air France uses on theirs.
Bank 1 is on the same side as #1 cyl (right/passenger) side, bank 2 is the left/driver side. Sensor #1 is BEFORE the cat. convertor, sensor #2 is BEHIND the cat, so Bank 1, sensor 2 is the sensor BEHIND the convertor, on the left/driver side. bank 1 is actually on the drivers side
Well, on my 1996 'trepid with the 3.3L, there are four sensors. [Note - My 3.3L is equipped with the California Emissions so it may be different] The upstream sensors are the same, but they differ from the downstream sensors. Considering that the catalytic converters for the 1995 and 1996 are the same, I would expect you to have the same number of sensors.
There are 4 02 sensors. For the 5.4L engine, Bank 1 sensors are on the right side exhaust, sensor 1 is in front of the catalytic convertor (tucked up between converter and the manifold joint). Sensor 2 is in the exhaust pipe behind the resonator (?-I'm really not sure if this is a second cat. conv., resonator, muffler or what...). The Bank 2, sensors 1 & 2 are in the same positions on the left side of the vehicle, but sensor 1 is a little easier to access. That's MY QUESTION: Can anyone tell me how to access Bank 1, Sensor 1??? I can see it, and I've unplugged it (with a little difficulty), but I can't get a wrench on it!
There are four oxygen sensors for this vehicle - two for each bank of cylinders. They are located on the exhaust pipes just ahead of and after the catalytic converters - sometimes referred to as "upstream" and "downstream" of the catalytic converters. Bank 1 refers to the bank of cylinders where cylinder number is located, which is the left or driver's sidde. Sensor 1 is located ahead of (closer to the engine) the catalytic converter. Sensor 2 is located after the converter. The same goes for bank 2.
If you have not changed the Oxygen sensors I would do that. The O2 sensors ( which are a maintance item) need to be replaced when you have incorrect fuel delivery problems. Mark I had the same codes on my 96 Silverado and it was my fuel pump. Usually your 02 sensors will have a {no activity},{no response} or {heater circuit malfunction} when they are bad.
an o2 sensor is the same as an oxygen sensor. vehicles can have up to 4
