They aren't rare several populations live around the world The American black bear (Ursus americanus) is North America's most common species of bear. In both Canada and the US the population is stable as the animal can make a living in almost any circumstances, eating a wide range of foods and not being impacted by human activities. The black bear has a large global population estimated to be twice the total of all other bear species combined.

Present efforts b wildlife groups and organizations like PETA have curtailed the culling of bears through hunting and even the British army has moved to use synthetic bear hides for their busbies.

Yes, black foxes actually happen to be red foxes that have a genetic mutation that causes their coat to be black, often with a white tipped tail.

Black is just a color variation in a grey wolf's fur. But there is an entire breed of wolf that are all black, and they are endangered. They have longer muzzles and smaller facial features.

They must be. I live in Maine and saw two on May 18 of this year, (2020). I have plenty of foxes around where I live and have seen many over my 60 years, but never a black one, and neither has anyone else I know. I saw them near dusk crossing a road ahead of me. There were two adults, (a black one and a red one), and a black kit. When I drove up near them, the kit veered off to the side. The adults stopped to look for it. I got a good look at all three. The black ones had white at the tip of their tails, otherwise, they looked entirely black, no gray or other markings on them. At first I was confused at what I was looking at, but by the time it sank in, it was too late to grab my phone for a picture. I keep going back to the area hoping to see them again, but I think that was my once-in-a-lifetime experience.
