Border Collies are among canines most intelligent breeds. Although they would love every member of a family, they will usually be most loyal to one of the members of the family. In this case it can then be said that they are one man dogs.
Border Collies are medium sized dogs that in one litter can have up 4-8 puppies, on the average 6.
He has two border terrier dogs named Binka and Nugget.he doesnt have two border terrier dogs he has one siberian husky called binka.
Border Collies are a very popular breed. Information about Border Collies can be found through local breeders, pet stores, dog shelters and rescues, dog magazines, or through books found at your local library.
border collies are clever, responsive dogs that respond well to training, that is why the are the best sheep herding dogs, plus there IMMENSE speed!!!!!!!!!! Border Collies were bred to herd flocks. They need training to know when, where, and who they are allowed to herd. It is their natural want and need to herd, and they will even herd your kids around the park if you let them, but that should not be allowed. There should be specific training to keep the dog from nipping the kids on the feet if they are playing together and the dog begins to herd one child or another.
Border Collies are what are known as Type A of high-drive dogs. They are highly intelligent, but are rarely chosen as service dogs because they have so much energy. If not properly mentally and physically stimulated, they can fixate. As well, they only respond to the training of one person. They count voice as part of a command, so each person has to train individually. This obviously is a problem for agencies devoted to training service dogs. That said, it is not unheard-of to have a service Border Collie. Still, these are quite rare.
I have 3 border collies they are used because they are built for it!!!! When there born they know about sheep no one teaches them its just there but you do need to train them to sit etc! they are amaizing animals and good natured
it depends on the dog. I have four dogs. one is a Weimaraner and three collies. So the Weimaraner cant get its hair cut but the collies NEED to get it cut at least two times a year.
ive had many border collies over many years and all of them seem to have this trait, they especially walk this way when hearding. if the dog seems in any discomfort or there is joint clicking consult your vet ==== ==== ==== ====
5-6 feet, my border collies could hop the 4 foot one like it wasnt even there.
it depends on how well you train your dog. most border collies are a little shy with strangers, so if someone pushed them beyond their comfort zone, they might snap. i have been snapped at by a border collie aussie shepherd mix, it was my fault, though. they are a herding dog, so they will nip at childrens heels. but hten there are the ones that just want to give kisses and love everyone, mine is like that. so, the border collie is not really agressive, but they are certanlly not a golden retriever.
My Border Collie, and yes he is pure bred, weighed in at a svelte 95 pounds when I last took him to the vet. He was 4 at the time and in very athletic and toned condition. He has since slowed down at bit but his appetite has not waned. He now weighs 100 pounds, but has lost very little of the inherent quickness that the breed is known for. He is 7 and very healthy.
Energetic among all things. Sometimes they can be a bit mean but only without proper training. Which is another thing. Border Collies are one of the hardest dogs to train. You need to read up on all the Dummies books and Idiots Guides they are all very helpful for first time owners. Border Collies also need plenty of room to run. If you dont have a big backyard, don't get a Border Collie. Without room they go insane. Even if you walk him every day he won't have enough excercise. With all the right conditions they are the best dogs you can have. I know that to be very true. I hope this helps and that I did not discourage you from getting a Border Collie. I promise it's worth it!
