They are generally considered reptiles, though some think they should have their own class.
They are more closely related to reptiles and are currently classified as such.
Reptile. They're the once living giant LIZARDS, right?
No; dinosaurs ARE reptiles and therefore, more closely related to other reptiles than to amphibians.
No. Scientists believe dinosaurs were more closely related to birds than to modern reptiles.
Reptiles
No, dinosaurs are more closely related to reptiles than amphibians. Both dinosaurs and reptiles belong to the group called diapsids, which are characterized by having two openings in the skull behind the eye socket. Amphibians, on the other hand, belong to a different group called tetrapods.
Yes! there's more venomous Amphibians than Reptiles.
They are both reptiles. More precisely, both are archisaurs, advanced reptiles. Odd as it may seem, an alligator is closer to a bird than it is to a turtle.
no
they are not
Nope. ^_^ Although they may have looked like amphibians, dinosaurs were reptiles. Also, not all reptiles back in their time were technically dinosaurs; for instance, pterodactyls (flying reptiles) and icthyosaurs (swimming reptiles) were not in the dinosaur family. The reason for this is that you had to have a special kind of hip joint to be a dinosaur - there were actually two kinds, called bird-hips and lizard-hips. Anyway, you could tell by looking at how the animal walked if it posessed these hips - and thus, if it was a dinosaur or not - by looking at how it walked. If it walked with its knees directly underneath its hip or elbow joints, then it was a dinosaur. For instance, chickens, humans and dogs walk like this. If it walked any other way - for instance, if it walked with its elbows splayed out to the sides like how a salamander walks - then it was not. Hope that helped! ;D
No.
No, dinosaurs existed before mammals. Reptiles and amphibians existed as long ago as 359.2 million years ago, while the first mammals didn't appear until 251 millions years ago.
No. Amphibians are a different group than reptiles. Amphibians are animals such as; Frogs, Toads, Salamanders, etc. Reptiles are animals such as; Turtles, Tortoises, Snakes, Lizards, etc.
Current research suggests dinosaurs are more closely related to birds than land reptiles. There is fossil evidence of dinosaurs with feathers, and it has even been speculated that dinosaurs are warm blooded, unlike reptiles.
because their limbs and bones are stronger than those of amphibians
Dinosaurs are more closely related to mammals. Both mammals and dinosaurs share a reptilian ancestor that they don't share with amphibians.
