The puppies are fine, it's when they're all grown up when you have to worry.
But, they're are lots of misconceptions about Dobbermanns, they were bred to be guard dogs, so they are actually very protective of their 'pack'. As with all children with family pets, you should teach them to be gentle and quiet around dogs and make sure that they are always supervised around them.
Dobbermanns are probably not the best to have around children, mostly due to their size. If I were you, I'd consider a terrier for a child's companion.
