Well, I am DEFINITELY not a professional. It depends upon the child. Some children are like that, but it could also be a sign of autism, ADD, or even depression. You should consult a psychiatrist and have tests if he really seems abnormal. It could be nothing, but if it is something, you'll want to catch it at an early age and get treatment.

Speaking from personal experience, look for an organic cause (i.e. labs, etc.) Then, go psychiatric. Asperger's Autism sounds similar, and it may be linked to effects of Addison's. Always get a second opinion. Spend time doing your own personal investigating because your doctors available time is limited. Offer suggestions to your doctor that he can then research further or rule out. Be aware that this may not necessarily resolve itself with adolescence and it could worsen.

A couple of other physical causes that should be considered--physical/sexual abuse and drug use. That behavior can also result from social and emotional sources. The death of a family member, the divorce of parents, feeling excluded by peers or that no one really listens when he speaks. Any of these experienced over time can build resentment in a child which will exhibit as anger and emotional outbursts. Also, and I say this blindly as just another possible cause, a child that often gets what he wants and seldom has to do what he doesn't want will exhibit those behaviors as well.

Now how exactly do you define extreme anger? Are we talking yelling and slamming of doors (normal) or hitting and kicking of others (not)?
