Absolutely. People have home mortgages (a loan) and also purchase new cars (another loan) and buy things on credit (loan advance) all the time. The caveat though is ones Debt To Income (DTI) ratio. If ones outflow is greater than, say 43% of their income, a loan may be denied. To figure your own DTI, add up your current living expenses (utilities, cell phones, morgages, credit card debt, etc) then divide that by your Gross income (before taxes). The sum is your DTI . varioius lenders may have lower thresholds in the 30% range - some even lower than that. The reason for DTI is to keep people from overtaxing their incomes - somebody at 45% of their income being spent every month is more likely to default on a loan - defaults hurt the loan company as they are also in business and have their own bills to pay to others.
