Well, the largest ants in the world are found in South-East Asia and The Australian bulldog ants are among the biggest, and those are about 6 centimetres.
So in that matter, there are no 'giant' ants.
Yes. Giant oysters are real. Many divers looking for pearls have come across giant oysters, and searched them for pearls. Unfortunately, the Giant Oyster doesn't produce pearls like a regular oyster. Many a diver has also had a shock when the jaws have started to close on them whilst they were exploring the oyster's mouth. After a while though, they realised that they were in not danger, as a giant oyster closes it's jaws so slowly that you can have a bath in it's mouth whilst it was closing and still have ample space to move about, and plenty more time to escape.
Ants are primarily omnivores, eating both plants and animals if possible. There are certain types of ants, such as the odontamachus, which are carnivorous, and leaf cutter ants, which are herbivores.

It only has ants, and it is in color, but I think you're referring to EMPIRE OF THE ANTS, a Bert I. Gordon film she did in the 70's. I think you were mixing up 3 MOVIES! THEM! (1954) has giant ants in the desert TARANTULA (1955) a giant spider in the desert. EMPIRE OF THE ANTS is not in the desert.
