Goodman backs their furnace with a 10 year parts and lifetime on heat exchanger warranty on most models. so they must be pretty confident about their product. The older entry level furnaces had a noisier burner than most but the new models are about the same with other makes. Some might say it is cheaply made but all entry level furnaces wether it is Trane,Carrier or Lennox are cheaply made. You just pay a lot more for those furnaces because of all the advertising. As far as reliability and performance, I don,t see any problems with the current models. Some will say that the sheet metal cabinet is not as thick as the other brands but that only matters if your going to sleep on top of it.The important part is that it is sized properly and installed by a reputable company.I have installed and service all these brands and I
don't see the advantage in installing the more expensive brand cause they all break and some were even DOA. I have had customers who insist in installing Carrier and Trane and get upset when their unit breaks down and can't believe that it did especially when the one year labor warranty is up.
Slightly better than Fairman Furnaces.
I work on oil furnaces for a living and in my area the most common and easiest to work on are Beckett burners.
Guardian is the economy line of furnaces made by York. They are what they are - an economy line furnace. Don't confuse them as an equal to a Trane, Carrier or Lennox caliber of furnace. They are definitely built "cheaper" than those. However, I would put them as a step above Goodman, Tempstar, Whirlpool, and other bottom line furnaces. We sell YORK equipment and have been very pleased with the Guardian units. Not many intro line units can say they have a rating of 95.5% efficiency. Comparing the units to are other intro line (weatherking) and a friend of ours intro line (Goodman) they have a much heavier built cabinet and are much more versatile.
The company was created in 1880.
No you need not adopt the unique furnaces, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you had best actually undergo with it once. Furnace Filters, Air Conditioning Filters at Air Sponge Filter Company

== == Goodman furnaces have 10 year warranties on all of their parts. They use the same manufacturers for their controls, motors, burners, transformers, and many other parts as the other manufacturers of furnaces. I repair all brands of furnaces and have heard similar cuts against the other brands. I find that all brands have about the same repair rate and some people may have more repairs than others even though the furnaces are exactly the same model. == == No. Goodman is an inexpensive brand, but is not cheaply made. I do not find that Goodman units break down any more frequently than Carrier, York, or Trane. I'll say no too, but I do find that Goodman breaks down more than Trane, Carrier & York in my area. I wouldn't get rid of it either, especially in these tough economic times. Maybe invest in a home heating protection plan (that covers parts &labor) from a local hvac contractor or utility.
