There was an interesting TV program exploring this very question. Apparently they found at least one man who regularly drinks human blood, and considers himself a vampire. He gets the blood from consenting people with whom he is close, using sterile blood drawing equipment. He also appears to suffer some aversion to light. Scientists were trying to determine if he had some unusual form of anemia. He did not fit all the criteria in the legends however. He was visible in mirrors for example. However, both the Old & The New Testaments prohibit the drinking of blood of any animal source.
