Not necessarily, vegetarians are not simply healthier than people eating meat, it would depend on the specific diet of an individual. If a vegetarian eats lots of high-fat diary products to substitute meat and very little fruit or vegetables, he/she would be unhealthier than an omnivore who eats lots of fruit, vegetables and fish or other white meat. Also, there are suggestions that people who eat meat, although not too much meat, are actually healthier than those who cut out meat from their diet completely.

In my own personal opinion, yes. As omnivores, that means that we eat two both meat and herbs, unlike carnivores and herbivores. It is a more balanced life style. Animals, and herbs we bothput here for us to use. They reproduce, but what else are they here do? We are also above most animals, and plants as well in the food chain. Why not use what we have available. I mean, think about it, a million years ago, there weren't any 'vegetarians', but there also weren't just 'meat-eaters only' either. Stay omnivore, stay healthy!

Edit: When it comes to humans, the above is true.

Carnivorous and herbivorous animals are just as healthy as omnivorous animals in the way that their bodies use what they eat.

True carnivores do not get their energy from carbohydrates like we do, but they get it from fats and proteins. They get a lot of their vitamins ans such from the flesh of a herbavor who has consumed them. Their bodies are designed to break down fats different than ours are. In fact, if they were to be fed a fully vegetarian diet, they would ultimately get sick and die. Why do you think that dogs today being fed rice and carrots are sick all the time and have skin and fur issues? Those conditions are not normal and are a result of a carbohydrate heavy diet.

Herbavors also break down the different plant proteins and carbohydrates differently than other types of animals. Their digestive system does a much better job at extracting most of the nutrients in the vegetation than does other animals. Animal proteins and fat can affect them just the way plants affect carnivores; it can make them very sick and leave them with many problems. Hence mad cow disease. Those animales were fed animal by-products.

The human body has been developed specifically over the course of evolution. Per say our dietary requirements involve many sources of vitamins and minerals in order for the body to function. The human is considered to be omnivores according to our species. We are able to eat a variety of foods that benefits us from other carnivorous and herbivores, especially if further evolution is to take place. This would be considered as a balanced diet of vegetables, meats, poultry, dairy and other products function of our body is important, as being an omnivore will allow an individual to attain a variety of these essential vitamins and minerals for the body, which some come from both meat and other sources. Meat is very much contained with important minerals and vitamins that have little traces or no traces in other sources of food. Being a vegetarian will limit a person to attain nutrients that are found in meat products, therefore they may have to consider trying to find alternatives which contain the same nutrients or implement the same area of growth in the body. In the general case, being either there is no better, however omnivores are able to obtain more from a variety of foods than a vegetarian.

Some cultures and religions promote both eating and not eating, but all customs are respected. To say that one is disadvantaged by being a vegetarian is an argument to religious beliefs. The many reasons why vegetarians may consider following the diet is either because they dislike meat, have a belief that does not promote eating meat or because there is medical issue with eating these products. This is the general case. Meat eaters are only opposite to what reasons a person will choose to become a vegetarian.

Eating too much meat will in turn cause economic effects to increase meat production as well as further risks to the environment.

Too much in a diet can risk the human body to effects such as Heart diseases.

It is the same for vegetarians who eat too much. Overall there is no better, both have advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on consumption, belief and what one has benefactors the other doesn't have. In this case we are Omnivores and have the ability to choose what we would like to consider in our diet.

Common Ravens are omnivores, but most of their diet is meat. At times they eat arthropods, seeds, and grain, but they are more carnivorous than crows. They scavenge for carrion and garbage and also prey on rodents and on the eggs and nestlings of other birds.

Why do you need more plants than animals in the food pyramid?

Other than fungi, plants don't eat other plants so you need animals in the food chain. This includes herbivores to eat the plants. Carnivores to eat the herbivores. Omnivores eat both plants and animals.
