Yes. Most people are born with a gender identity programmed into their brain that matches the body they were body into whereas transgender people are not. This gender identity-body mismatch leads to a life of pain and misery because their body feels profoundly wrong and nobody ever sees them as the gender they truly are. When a transgender person transitions they are affirming their inborn gender identity, not changing it.
