Yes. Most people are born with a gender identity programmed into their brain that matches the body they were body into whereas transgender people are not. This gender identity-body mismatch leads to a life of pain and misery because their body feels profoundly wrong and nobody ever sees them as the gender they truly are. When a transgender person transitions they are affirming their inborn gender identity, not changing it.

∙ 10y agoPeople can be born as hermaphrodites. The sex is not clearly one or the other. It is extremely rare (1 in 25,000 births). It is considered an intersex with undescended, sub-sized ovotestes (ovary/testes) often with ambiguously-formed genitalia at birth. At birth they must be assigned a sex. If incorrect, the person will later show signs of the other sex. These people are sterile.
