Yes, the initial incident or criminal complaint report is a public record.

However, any subsequent police report on a criminal complaint (such as the record of the investigation, interviews, evidence, and any leads or suspects), are not public record unless/until the information comes out in open court as part of testimony.

How can you view Police Reports for Bensalem PA?

No jurisdiction, that I am aware of, makes its police reports available on-line, you must go to the agency's headquarters to see them - AND - it depends on WHAT kind of reports you wish to see. If you're asking if you can just go to the police station and rummage through their report files, no, you obviously cannot. The only public records that can be made readily available to you are the daily arrest and booking records. To review copies of other reports (i.e.: accidents, crimes, etc), you should know the date or report number, and the individuals involved. HOWEVER- if you are referring to copies of police CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS, they are notconsidered public records and will not be released without an FOIA request or a court order to produce them, and then, only if the case is closed or concluded.

If 911 didn't keep your name anonymous and the person arrested found out in report you called what recourse do you have?

None. If you were the complaining witness on the offense, your name will HAVE to appear in the police report as the basis for the police responding in the first place. Since all police reports are public records, ANYONE can look up the information.

Where are Police brutality reports located for Chattanooga TN?

If your city has a 'Citizen/Police Complaint Review Board' or some similar type of body, they should have records of these types of complaints. If not, the department's Internal Affairs Division more than likely maintains a file. Depending upon the details contained within the files they may, or may not, be public records.

A place where public records are kept?

Public records are documents that get filed at government agencies (city, state, federal, etc.) They are placed into large databases. These documents are available to the public, but they can be difficult to access. Companies that provide public records reports (people searches, background checks, reverse phone lookups, etc.) pay to access these databases. They then provide reports to consumers who are interested in obtaining this data quickly and easily.
